Dear readers, how are you? I hope you have a great and wonderful day while reading my blog post. First of all, I would like to thank my friend for the invitation to join MyTravelKaki.com travel group for this wonderful Chiling Waterfall trip.

The Chiling Waterfall has described as the most beautiful waterfall in Selangor state. It is located 90KM from Kuala Lumpur city center and 13KM from Kuala Kubu Bharu town. Chiling Waterfall has divided into three (3) vertical waterfalls which are “Lower Waterfall”, “Middle Waterfall” and “Upper Waterfall”. This time, we going are to Upper Waterfall. The organizer (MyTravelKaki.com) has informed the trip might be cancel if adverse weather condition.

Our journey starts from Kuala Lumpur and our meeting and starting point at Tesco Extra, Selayang. A total 67 persons has pre-register for this trip. However, only 54 persons are turning up. To avoid congested to the park, we are advised car pool. Finally, we depart at 7:45am.

Our 1st pits stop at Kuala Kubu Bharu town, which is 51.2KM from Tesco, Selayang. The organizer leading us to the wrong way, we arrived at 8:45am. Spend 45 minutes on our breakfast at coffee shop. 9:30am depart to our destination. Drive another 13KM and finally arrived park main entrance at 10:00am.

Before going into the waterfall, we are required register ourselves and pay the park entrance fee at Park HQ. From the Park HQ to Upper Waterfall, took us 1 hour 17 minutes. We have crossed the stream 6 times. Trekking in the jungle narrow path, breathing fresh morning air has makes myself full of energetic. Getting away from city life and enjoy the natural rainforest. Observe and watch the large amount of Mahseer Fish during river crossing is fantastic. Special floras can be observed along the trekking.

Upper Waterfall has larger pool if compare to Lower Waterfall. Middle Waterfall is not accessible. Middle and Upper waterfalls has very powerful falls. The interesting about Chiling Waterfall is the water may make you felt “Chilling”. With the average water temperature 26 Celsius, plus the cold wind blowing from waterfall has actually chilled up most of us. You may enjoy your pack lunch or sandwiches; fill up your hungry stomach while sighting the spectacular Chiling Waterfall.

Before heading back to Kuala Lumpur in the afternoon, we dropping by and sightseeing the greater Selangor Dam. You can visit Selangor Dam before entering into Chiling Fish Sanctuary Waterfall. Morning view is always better than afternoon view if you plan to have good photography shooting.

Facilities at Park HQ
Visitors allow picnic and camping at Park HQ surrounding area but not inside the waterfall area (after crossing hanging bridge). A proper picnic huts are built for visitors. Toilet and bath area is available next to Park HQ. Unfortunately, you are not allowed to fishing.

Important things you should know before visit Chiling Waterfall
1. Crossing river is a must in order approach to Lower and Upper Chiling Waterfall.
2. Monitor weather condition from time to time, stop entering waterfall during adverse weather.
3. Watch out water level. Do not attempt cross the river if the water reach dangerous level (above waist level).
4. During river crossing, watch out your step as the rock extremely slippery. Please also take good care to kids and elders.
5. In the even rainfall during visiting, immediate move to higher ground as small stream can become torrent and this is extremely dangers to the visitors.
6. Please contact Park HQ if you need assistant.
7. Seal your important goodies (wallet, camera, mobile phone) inside waterproof bag.
8. Beware of lost direction. In some pathway, way point signboard is not clearly stated.

How to go Sungai Chiling Fish Sanctuary Waterfall?
Towards to North side, from Kuala Lumpur follow Jalan Kuching then Jalan Ipoh. You will pass by Templer Park (located on your right). Then follow the Rawang Highway. After arrive Rawang town, continue using road no. 1 (Ipoh old inner road). Pay attention to road no. 55 (Kuala Kubu Bharu / Fraser Hill) junction, turn right. This road can lead you to Fraser Hill (40KM). You will pass by Kuala Kubu Bharu town (located on your left), then Selangor Dam (located on your left). As soon as you cross a small iron bridge, you may park your car at open space parking bay.

Time flies. The annual BookFest Malaysia 2011 is back again. Similar like previous year, the event was held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. Turning into the 6th Anniversary, with the slogan of “One Book One World”.

The exhibition begins from 27th August till 04th September 2011, 10am to 10pm daily. In conjunction with the School Holiday, Malay New Years and National Day, estimated will attract 700,000 visitors.

On a sunny Sunday morning, I have friend invite me to this event. This is first time in my life playing this “Paintball Game”. I know there is some risk playing this game but with full safety guard protection provided, it should be fine

The events take place at Xtion Paintball Park beside National Stadium, Bukit Jalil. We have total 9 members for the time slot from 9am to 11am.

Before the game start, we are briefed by the Park Warden on the Safety and Games Rules which include “wearing the Goggles & Chest Protector”, “using the Marker/Paintball Gun” and “our Missions”.

The paintball bullet speed can achieve 307km/h. We are not allowed firing each other in less than 3 meters distance. Bullet can cause certain level injured to your body. Bear in mind, safety first!

With 9 team members, we separate into Team A and Team B (4 versus 5).

· Mission 1 (5 mins): Shoot down enemy target (3 bottles) and grab the two (2) flags. Return to base.

· Mission 2 (5 mins): Interchange field, shoot down enemy target (3 bottles) and grab two (2) flags. Return to base.

· Mission 3 (5 mins): Shoot down enemy target (3 bottles) and grab flag no. 1 & 2. Then proceed to enemy base grab flag no. 3. Return to base.

· Free Shooting 1 (5 mins): No rules, no missions. Shoot as many enemies as you can.

· Free Shooting 2 (8 mins): No rules, no missions. Shoot as many enemies as you can until your bullet finish

8 out of 9 team members was hit by the bullet (paintball) either directly or indirectly (friendly fire) with minor injured on neck, arm, leg, hand and finger. I was hit by 3 bullets and causing injured on my hand and leg

It is very fun and enjoying real shooting game and far better than shooting on your computer games using keyboard and mouse

However, this paintball game is not cheap. A basic adult package cost RM45.00 per person (with 50 bullets provided) plus additional bullet (RM0.20 each) may cost more than your expected budget. Most of the time, you are wasting your bullet. So, please learn to save your bullet

Has been a while I didn’t wrote about travelling blog. After long waiting and finally I have time compile and complete this article. Journey to Broga is a last minute plan. Received friend call late midnight and I felt glad and surprise. This is the place I want to visit long time ago. Perform a simple packing and ready my camera gears. In order to see the sunrise, we shall depart early at 4am.

Pit Stop No. 1: Broga Hill

Wake up at 3:30am in the morning and as schedule departs at 4am from KL City, meet up with another member at Cheras, Leisure Mall. We have total four (4) persons include me in this journey. Initially, we are not sure how to go Broga, all thanks to smart GPS phone. Finally successfully lead us to Broga Hill.

Broga Hill, sits on the boarder of Selangor and Negeri Sembilan State. It is situated 1.6km from Broga Town, 50km from Kuala Lumpur City Centre and approximately 33km from Seremban Town. Broga Hill is getting famous now a day, believed due to below factors:-

1. Attracted Thatch Grass Landscaping

2. The Easier Mountain Hiking for City’s People

3. Destination Spot for Avid Nature Photographers

4. Observation of Sunrise and Sunset

5. Others… Please leave your comment if you know

We arrive the based or starting point at 5:15am, first sight in front of us is palm oil trees. That is the place we park the car (parking fee RM3.00). Ouch! I forgot bring my torch light. Force to walk in the dark. But not worries, we are not alone. A lot peoples is about to start their way to the peak with us.

At first, you will go thru a palm oil trail. Then, a jungle trails. After the jungle trails, in front of you is a wide and clear view mountain. This is Broga Hill’s peak no.1. Proceed and follow the routes, you should able to reach peak no.2 and follow by peak 3. Peak no.4 will be a little bit challenges as one part you need depending on the rope going upwards. And finally you can reach the highest point of Broga where you can see a signboard written “Welcome to Broga Hill, 400m”. A 1.7km distance from the based to the highest peak took me about 40 minutes and this is the easiest peak I ever climb.

If you are not aware, Broga Hill has total 4 peaks. Peak 4 is the highest point of Broga Hill. Mark it as 1280 feet or 400 meters from sea level. After choosing a nice terrain and path, we start setting up our camera gears preparing for sunrise shooting. During waiting, we saw a lot hikers moving in and filling up every corner of the 4 peaks. I don’t expect so huge number of hikers. Rough figure calculation, not less than 1000 hikers visit Broga Hill just morning itself.

I though the highest I go, the best for us to snap or observe the sunrise. I am totally wrong. The best peak to snap and observe the sunrise is peak no. 2 and 3.

7:30am, the sunshine begin shining up peak no.3, I called it “The First Light”. Unfortunately, peak no.4 has totally blocked by trees at far mountain. We only can see the sunlight thru the slits in between of trees.

8:16am, we start descending from Broga Hill peak no.4. Continuously snap the Broga Hill scene from different angle.

If you ask what the MOST in Broga Hill is? I would say…

- The most Hikers; easiest trekking trail.

- The most Photographer; you can see most of the hikers holding DSLR, Wow!

Alright, let see what you should bring:

- Trekking Shoe

- Extra T-Shirt

- Drinking Water

- Torch Light (If you need to walk in dark)

- Basic First Aid (Just in case you need it)

- Energy food (Chocolate, Packing Foods, Burger etc)

- Your Camera

My advice to you…

Before decide make your trip to any peaks, hills, mountains, highly recommended make some research. Such as the distance, the terrain, the tallest point, what to bring, estimate the journal time, safeties, etc.

Pit Stop No. 2: Broga Sak Dato Temple

As soon as we reached the based (car park), our next destination will be the famous Broga Sak Dato Temple. The temple located at 1.6km from Broga Town and 3km from entrance point of Broga Hill. You should able find the way by follow EES (East East South) direction.

The Broga Sak Dato Temple built 140 years ago and it has rebuilt in year 1991. The spectacular temple design has become one of the landmarks in Broga. The temple surrounded by lush green hills of tropical rainforest and combination with rockies mountain.

Today, Broga Sak Dato Temple still continues developing. A giant “Sun Wukong” or “Monkey King” statue was built at the top of mountain. If you can recall “Monkey King” story, “Sun Wukong” was born from a stone. Broga Sak Dato Temple has fulfilled the scenario. A truly fairyland you shall never miss it.

Last Pit Stop: Broga Town

Broga is a small town, the population majority is Chinese. Natural of business is agricultural, mainly rubber estate and palm oil. After visited the Broga Sak Dato Temple, we make our way back to Broga Town. This is where we drop by filling up our hungry stomach. We saw a lot Seafood Restaurant, but were closed in day time. Then we had our lunch at Broga Open Market. The food is normal and price is slightly cheaper than KL City.

Way Back to Kuala Lumpur

On the way back to Kuala Lumpur, most of the time I am in sleeping mode. This is not because of tiredness but it is due to not enough sleep last night. I really enjoy so much on this journey. I felt so fresh and loving so much the natural environment. And very thankful that we have really nice weather makes the photographing perfect.
